This Pauline Trigère dress is made of wool. The hem may have been raised; I'm not sure if it was or not, but there is a big 5" hem. It has a nylon zipper.

From this wonderful page I bookmarked some time ago when Sue posted it, I haven't been able to decide which year it belongs to stylistically. Both Spring '63 and Fall '67 have dresses that may be somewhat similar. Any suggestions gratefully accepted! :)

Very chic Maggie! If the fabrics used in the book are at all indicative I would say this looks closer to 1967. Her resortwear of 67 used a similar color and the dress detail seems like a natural segueway between the seasons. I love that book, by the way!

5 " hem seems quite deep for this dress. A 1.5" to - 2" would be more what I would expect. Now it may have been raised by the original owner and right away, so you wouldn't expect to see an old line.

Hmm, I'm whipsawed now! The hem gives no signs, as you say Harriet, but it sure is deep.

oh, anOTHer yummy dress!! very classic little number which does make it hard to date, :puzzled:

but my first thought, actually, was 80's beFORE i looked at the collection plates...it DOES look similar to that one from '63, tho.

is that a set-in sleeve? or not...???

It's a kimono sleeve, rather fitted, with zippers at the inner cuffs. Here's another pic:

this keeps ringing as early 80's to me...one of my girlfriends in hnl was totally into this style at that time...not in this wonderful shade, but in (nasty) gem-tones...the seaming is almost identical to hers, and the kimono to slender sleeve, too...trying to remember...think she wore it to an evening (fashion) show...and she didn't "do" vintage back then...

not saying it is, just saying it reminds me strongly of
