Other dating clues to help narrow the range on the union tag include the woolmark blend logo, which was introduced in 1971 (check out
VFGer Lizzie Bramlett's article on dating woolmark logos for some great info) and the label itself, which uses late 60s/early 70s slang for a brand name and has the registered trademark "r" symbol on it, meaning you can research it at the
USPTO site. Here's the info that comes up for a sportswear company with inverted letters in the mark:
