Trying to figure out the fabric on this dress

I know it is very hard to describe the fabric from the picture but this one really baffles me. It is a wedding dress i would assume 60s perhaps. The grain of the fabric looks like gabardine, white medium weight with lines. It is not too thick and kind of have a feeling of thick cotton. When i asked the dry cleaner she told me it couldnt possibly be gabardine. However it was mentioned on some wedding sites even thou i dint find any pictures of gabardine wedding dresses to compare. And it is fully lined in some kind of fabric that feels a bit papery. Like some hospital gowns. Maybe you can give me some names of fabric I can google to try figuring this. Thank you in advance.

If you can please show a clear and in focus close up of the fabric we can help identify it.

Gabardine is a weave, not a fabric but from your description it could be either a silk twill (which looks like a gabardine) or more likely faille or if the ribs are very big, ottoman. Photos will help. Diagonal weaves like gabardine are often twills but your fabric looks heavier so I expect faille too.

O ok. I wish i took a better pucture, but i keep forgetting at home. Ill do as soon as i get nack. But it is more dull than shiny. It is a nice fabric thou, not looking cheap, just never seen this in wedding wear before. You guys are awesome. I read about faille and im pretty sure it is that.
Thank you so much
