Turkis Tukku Mink

Evening all, I was hoping I could get some questions answered from you concerning this Turkis Tukku mink. I can't find much on it...What decade is this from, and whatever decade that may be, do you think this is a men's coat? I'm 5'10 180, and it's pretty big on me. The sleeve ends have been hemmed in by a couple of inches. And the hooks are on the right and eyes on the left, like men's shirts and jackets. Speaking of that, how consistent is the whole buttons on the left for women and right for men thing? Also, with the patchwork and canvas lining, does it all look original to you? Thank you for sorting me out! (Sorry if the pics are a little big.) Chris

Looks like beaver to me. Fur labels don't often mean much as fur salons would put in their own labels, fur suppliers had labels as did the people who created the coats for the salons. The font on the label looks 80s and its a pieced beaver coat.

Oh my gosh, I guess that should have been my first question. There is nowhere that says it's mink, I just thought...:BAGUSE: Too wide--that makes sense, thank you. Ang, you came just in time--I've been searching for fur differences--I thought I had previously seen a link or guide somewhere here but have had no luck yet. Thank you for the beaver and decade! Is it likely it was produced as a men's coat?

Agree its not mink, but it looks like muskrat to me. It could be men's but your best guide for that is fit. What's the shoulder measurement?

From seam to seam the shoulders are 17" across...I'm adding the back and a closeup if that helps. Thank you for the muskrat replies!

Ahhh, sorry, I did a quick reply and that last pic messed up the width of the whole thread. :icon_wall:

I had a leather coat (& fur trimmed) in the 70's with very similar font on the label. I can't remember, but it may have even been the same brand.

Not to confuse you more or anything... ;-)
