Turquoise Ladybug Brooch Help

I found this cute little brooch today and mostly grabbed it because it was a song and I really like it. Decided to research it as best I could and found a Hattie Carnegie that is very similar. I am wondering if this is a "knock off?" The only mark is on the back (you can see it in pics) and it has A638 on it - I haven't been able to figure that one out yet.

There are differences between this and the Carnegie for sure but it is REALLY similar which made me wonder about the knock off theory. This one has crooked eyes - which are actually kind of funny and legs on back to name a few. There is a Carnegie for sale on Ruby Lane and Ruby Plaza.

Anyway, stop the rambling from me and would love to hear from any of you. As always - anything you might be able to share is appreciated. Again - know it isnt the crown jewels but am trying to learn more and more about jewelry.

BTW - Linn, your workshop information is wonderful. Still working my way through all of it but soooo informative!

It's very cute. I don't think it's Hattie Carnegie but it might be Sphinx - a British firm that marked their pieces with letters and numbers. Their designs started with A and then a number so that's a definite possibiityi. I have a very cute but tiny lady bug that is Coro. I think lots of companies made similar little bugs.

No def not Hattie Carnegie...workmanship isn't very good to my very untrained eye but she is cute.

Thanks so much for the info and point to a maker - will see what I can research that way. I just knew you might have an idea Linn!

I am obsessed with Coro as of late so if you every want to post a pic of your brooch, would love to see.

Here's my tiny Coro ladybug. It is jewelled - I forgot! It's way different from yours. Mine is tiny and looks '40's to me. I do not have a photo of the back - sorry. I'm showing it small because making it larger distorts it:
