This I was told was a girls flapper dress. I did not think so it is quite big so I let the hem down and there is still hem left. It fits my size 6 model. Sorry it all wrinkled, but thee two peices came ot me that way. Ughhhhhh...

I need a date on this. It is a very heavy velvet and it has toggles on the front which I dont know how they go. There are issues but all can be fixed. I wuld ot know what to do about cleaning any ideas.

Dress 1, I dont see flapper really....but, 20s, and cant say a flapper WOULDNT wear it, they couldnt dress wild & crazy all the time, right?

The 2nd one I am torn. The silk velvet & the fitted silhouette w/ waist seam look 30s to me. Early. As far as cleaning....I'm a wuss & I have a great drycleaner, so I'm not the one to ask!

Amazing dresses.....I am so jealous of your hoarder haul!

The pink dress looks like a young woman's dress, maybe teenager, but not a girl's dress. I bet it was shortened for a young girl to wear as a costume maybe.

The brown dress is either something c. 1917ish or matronly 1930s, its hard to tell with it being so rumpled. Personally, I would just steam it, and if the lace needs cleaning I would take the lace off, wash it and put back on. I would avoid cleaning the dress -- it CAN NOT be washed but it might put up with a dry cleaning if its really stinky or dirty, but I wouldn't if you don't need to.

I though 30's on the velvet but the toggles and the construction maybe says older. I have another amazing flapper dress and its in pristine condition but it is black and have to wait to get a better pictre of it. It is really nice.

Thanks I think I will look up some 1917 dress and see if I can compare them.

Well, I don't know much about dresses this old, but my first thought on the velvet was circa the 1917 date Jonathan said. I thought pre-1920, post-1905... But I have no real clue, other than "gut."

I think it is older.... Iam going leave in bathroom to steam it out. Anyone know anything about old toggle closures. It has 4 toggle velvet button and no loops so I dont know how it goes.

My first thought on the brown velvet was Edwardian,
especially with your description of the closures. Can you
post a closeup pic of the toggle closures?

I thought a shot of the back would help. At the bottom it is embellished with puckery embroidery. The pockets in front have a v-shape. I hopt this helps. Thaks

Is it a negligee robe? does it wrap in the front?

I have never seen that smocked velvet as part of the lower skirt before.
