I have two vintage fur stoles and I just can't decide if they are Mink or Muskrat? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, The first one looks like Mink. Very pretty the way you have it styled. The 2nd looks like it's dyed to look like Mink but it is not Mink. I cannot tell from the half photo what fur type it is. Can you please show me the full front and a back photo of that one?

The second one looks exactly like several of the same type I have handled that have been rabbit fur, in various colors (the one I have right now is white, but I have had dark brown, like yours, with stripes dyed to look like mink, in the past). Of course, without handling it, I wouldn't want to say for certain, but that's my best guess.... :)

Yes, I would definitely agree with Amy's thoughts on it looking like Rabbit dyed to look like Mink fur. I would like to get a look at the full front and back to see if I see any pelt definition to confirm with certainty. Here are some photos of one that looks similar to the one you have shown in the half photo that is Rabbit fur dyed to look like Mink.

Thanks so much! Here are a couple more pictures! And it is identical to yours! Rabbit never crossed my mind! It it cut in 'interesting' shapes, possible three, rectangle, triangles and the lining is padded so it has been difficult for me to 'diagnose'! Its in great shape and I really didn't want to start pulling apart!

Thanks again for checking it out!

Yes, looks like Rabbit fur and it does look a lot like the one I posted. The fur looked like Rabbit from the first photo but I always like to see the full fur, at least the front, and sometimes the back to confirm with certainty. Full rabbit pelts prepared for crafting are usually squared but depending on the size of the garment being made and pelt pieces left over other shapes are sometimes used.
