U.S. Senate Seersucker Day on June 18th

I love seersucker.. there is nothing nicer IMHO on a hot summer day than vintage seersucker ~ blouse, dress or even shorts.

And I think of the old Andy Griffin show, Matlock, where he was a lawyer and always wore seersucker suits.. well, i'm glad to know i'm not alone ~ who knew we had a Seersucker day??

"Seersucker, a thin, all-cotton fabric first introduced in the United States in the early 19th century, is seeing a major resurgence; becoming a favorite of celebrities, designers , senators, and warm-weather seekers. This year, the popular annual Senate Seersucker Thursday is on June 18 th

Senate Seersucker Thursday, annually commemorates when your United States Senators trade in their heavy suit for a more breathable alternative. Trent Lott , Mississippi's U.S. Senator, revived Seersucker Day in 1996 as a deep-rooted southern tradition and a welcomed return to the Senate's sartorial tradition.

Every June, the Senate picks a day to encourage all U.S. Senators to wear the time-honored fabric, reminding them of a season of renewal and rejoice. Today, Senators agree on just one thing: sporting seersucker makes a classic fashion statement in the spirit of unity. "

I wish they would make it a National Seersucker Day!

I love seersucker suits ~ such a classic summer look after the heavy and dark men's wool suits ~

Years ago I had a boss who often wore a grey and white seersucker suit in the Summer. He was very old San Francisco and purchased all his suits at Brooks Brothers.

Love the women's seersucker shirtwaist dresses and blouses. I sure could use a few of them when the temps are up in the high 90s here!

Wow--that's really cool (lol--figuratively as well as literally)! Who knew a bunch of fuddy duddy senators would actually have a seersucker day??? Love it!

I had a batch of seersucker stuff at one point--have one or 2 pairs of shorts I should get listed.
