Unfamiliar with this Saks Fifth Avenue Millinery Salon Label

A lot of listings credit this style of hat to the 1950s and/or 1960s.

The Saks Fifth Avenue Millinery Salon label is not listed in Label Resources. Is anyone familiar with this label and when it was used? Maybe another label to submit to Label Resources? The label is more "aged" looking than the bright white of my image. Hat also has an old "Union Made in the U.S.A." label. I can get an image if that would be helpful
Is this a 1950s/1960s hat??? earlier???? later???
Thank you for your thoughts and opinions. -Alice

Hello,

It is lovely, and my first glance opinion on dating would be late 1950's, to very early 1960's. I forget when they used/stopped using that particular label but I can check on that. Saks' millinery salon employed dozens of the best hat makers in the business, some who went on to their own fame, and is a sign of fabulous quality and workmanship. There were various millinery "salons" in Saks over the decades, from upscale ready-to-wear (which I think yours is) to the most expensive one-of-a-kind custom "couture" millinery such as hats sold in the Salon Moderne.

It is beautiful. Looks like mink but I cannot be sure.

Thanks Barbara, it would be great if you could check on the label. Yes, you're right - it's a wonderful dark mink. If you need additional images, please let me know.

Barbara, I forgot to ask if I could share with others, the information you gave me regarding the Saks' millinery salon, when I list the hat. I am happy to credit the VFG, you or both. Thank you. -Alice
