This is rather perplexing I picked this up as a well made dress with some interesting features but when I put it on it soon became apparant that it was some kind of uniform. It has no labels.
It has a long a-line skirt that is lined first in what I would call extra thick brushed cotton (at least twice the thickness of a bedsheet) and then a normal underskirt material lining. Two long hanger loops from the waist, a side zip (later replacement by hand), small metal buttons on the cuffs and front, a spring clip & D ring fastening at the collar marked W.Germany. The bodice and sleeves are quite full - almost going into a batwing at the sleeve seam. The top is not lined but has some knitted backing/reinforcement behind the buttoned front. It has a gathered waist and a plain fabric belt I did up at the back in the picture below.
Anybody recognise this uniform style? I'm thinking it might be a nurses/care uniform. The style resembles very old german nurses uniform but the stitching is all machine done and very modern. I think it's late 70's or 80s but might be later if it comes from a more eastern european country.
I would also like to know what that collar fastener is called, my mum's seen them on a dress before but a long while ago and can't put a name to it.
