I am new to the forum but already loving it and wonder if anyone could help me with an enquiry
I am not a collector but I buy quirky things and recently bought what I think is the top off a purse. When I bought it had a bell glued into the inside but it simply came apart when it arrived. I had noticed the the top looked like a purse fastener . I don’t even know if it is celluloid or a different material. I thought maybe I could get some nice velvet and sew the bottom part back into a purse.
But I can’t figure how it would have hinged and wondered if anyone had seen anything similar? I am wondering if it would have had a metal hinge but I have no idea how it could have fastened. It doesn’t look like anything has been glued on and all the ones online seem to have actual hinges built in. They also all seen to have hoops for the strap and this has nothing.

I would appreciate any advice and help you can give. He lives happily on a shelf and I love him even if he isn’t a purse again, but it feels like he might appreciate his bag back.
