Unusual leather wallet or something, what is it?

I came by this odd looking piece and I have no idea what it is.
It looks like some kind of wallet or something. Does anyone here know what it's used for?

Yes, a very nice jewellery case for travelling. The padded band should have a popper so you can slide your rings onto it!

Aaaah!! Thank you guys sooo much!! This had me stumped! :powwows: I've been trying to identify this thing for months now!
The padded band does have a popper indeed, TinTrunk!
But it sounds very logical, how old would this be? I don't even know if it's vintage, it looks like it is though...

It does look quite recent. At a guess, I would say 1980s.

Thanks TinTrunk! Other than the small gold crown I have very little left to go on.
I'm doing a search on the zipper. It says Depe or Depo.
I was thinking I might put it up in my shop when I had more info on it, but now I'm going to keep it
It will most certainly come in handy when traveling, which I like to do quite a lot.
