UPDATE! A Champagne Birthday Bash!

Yesterday, I received an invite to my friend Amy's, 40th birthday 'bash' on the 31st October. She's actually having two birthday parties but this one is for girls only. It's a Champagne lunch at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire which is just over an hours drive from where I live. We're all travelling there on a mini-bus (should be fun)! but at least we can enjoy the Champagne! Chatsworth has been on its present site since the mid 1500's and it's the home of Lord and Lady Devonshire.

Of course all the girls will be dressing up and so I will be flying the flag for vintage! :headbang: Here's a couple of photos of the beautiful Chatsworth House along with the vintage attire that I'll be wearing. I've treated myself to this lovely 50's day dress and the delightful 50's bag from our very own Bonnie of Bonton Vintage (thank you Bonnie)! I'm going to accessories further with a fascinator hat from Jonathan and possibly the silver-fox fur collar - it scares me a bit so we'll see :hysterical:

Oh I do love a good party! :drinkingtoast:

Ooooo-ahhhhhh!

Gorgeous party palace, and such a great outfit! Now you make me want to see the get-up in action. A pic of the party perchance?

Sounds fantastic! Great outfit and gorgeous venue. We will efinitely need to see a photo of you in the outfit at the party.

Have a fabulous time!

O M G, you're going to Chatsworth :jawdrop: :adore: !!! You lucky girl!

I admit, I am one of those crazed fans of the BBC adaption of "Pride and Prejudice", where Chatsworth served as "Pemberley" (yes, I know, it's just the outside, but still... :spin: and no, I don't watch it over and over again just because of a certain actor!).

And I look at it everyday because it's on the small plates of my tableware - Johnson Brothers' "Old Britain Castles" :duh:.

Your outfit is absolutely fabulous, there's no other way to put it :headbang: . All in all - it can't get any better. What a treat! :drinkingtoast:

Thanks everyone! :sunshine: I'll definitely take my camera along. It's going to be a real treat. Hoping we get to do a tour of the house as well. I've been to Chatsworth several times and the grounds are magnificent. I'm really looking forward to it. :)

OOhhh Louise, loving that outfit and very envious that you obviously have the figure for it!

I was lucky enough to visit Chatsworth House last year, my sister-in-law in York urged me to pop in on my way home down South and I'm glad I did as it was sublime, though 'house' is a bit of a inappropriate word considering how huge it is don't you think, and you do need several visits to see it all!

Have a wonderful time and take plenty of pics! :camera:

ps that's actually the kind of dress I want to wear at my first vintage fair, but 10 times the size!

I'm even more excited about visiting Chatsworth now! Thanks for your replies. :sunshine:

I'm a bit undecided about the shoes really. I've a problem getting the right fit with vintage shoes. I'm having a look around at the moment but I do have this pair by Red or Dead that may look ok with the outfit I've chosen. They're vintage 'inspired' and named appropriately 'Garbo shoes'. Made from black leather and suede with quite a thick heel. They're lovely shoes but I'll have to try them on with the dress to see how they look. I'm wondering if they might be a little bit 'chunky' but they're gorgeous little shoes aren't they? :)

Louise - I am beyond jealous. Wow. It looks like a fairytale or something out of the movies. Can I just say that if it were me, I'd be having an out of body experience not believing it were actually real.

Your life must be amazing!

Aw lucky!!!!

I ALWAYS want to go to Chatsworth and it's not even that far from me here in Leicester and Gary never takes me.

Hmm, may have to hitch a ride with you! :D

That's so sweet. I wouldn't say my life is amazing by any stretch of the imagination but I do have a nice bunch of friends that occasionally ask me out to nice places. :) Thank you for saying it though. :sunshine:

I think I'll have to have a word with Gary. :) Perhaps he could take you for your next birthday?

LOL, we both have the same birthday (Aug 25) so I'd have to wait until next year and Chatsworth isn't his idea of a fun day out!:paranoid:

Damn. I wanna go!! I wanna play dress up and be fancy for a day!

I ate Hamburger Helper with the boys at the building renovation surrounding a folding table. Closest thing to vintage was hubby's blown out '90s Tshirt!
:hysterical::violins:

Since you're on the bus...let the bubbly flow! :excited:
