I got to see part of the Hermitage in Amsterdam a few years back, a lot of clothing including some of Catherine's gowns - magnificent.

The coronation mantle of Dowager Empress Maria Fedorvna, A red wool coat with silver embroidery worn by Peter II, the Coronation Herald's boots.
I would like that for my holiday outfit!
Perhaps topped with A jewel-studded, fur-edged hat from Emperor Nicholas II's fancy dress costume of 1903.

Whoa! Thanks for posting, Maggie. I'll take the boots, too, but only if they come with the Dowager Empress' mantle... :D
If all that embroidery on Peter's costume is real silver, guess the pearls on the cuffs of that dress costume are real, too...
We saw the "Gold Room" in the Hermitage 5 years ago, where the various golden Imperial treasures (weapons, jewelry, etc) were on display. We staggered out, blinded, my husband muttering something about "kleptocracy"...
