I spent the day at the Mus. of the City of NY, looking at the Valentina exhibit and some garments which did not make the exhibition.
First the exhibition is absolutely fantastic! Her designs are very focused on the body and many have the most fabulous bodices. I can just imagine the owners sitting around a dining table.
One of the coats in the collection that wasn't included in the exhibition is a very lightweight faille--unlined. The front is on grain; then it continues to the upper back which is on the crossgrain. The only seams are the piecing seams which are on grain and a seam at center back. This coat belonged to the designer and I can just see her making a sweeping entrance.
If you live anywhere near NY, you must see this exhibition! Claire
