Valentino Garavani handbag age?

Hello again!

I got this lovely very small (doesn't fit iPhone 7) Valentino handbag.
(It has also gold "made in italy" sign)

Does anyone know how old could it be, 90s?

I know there are black and brown versions (I've seen one on therealreal and one on lot-art)
but nowhere does it say how old are they, only "vintage".

Help!

Instinctively I think earlier, 70’s-80’s, judging by the style and metal plaque. BUT, it is very difficult to tell as micro bags have had a few comebacks and these could be as recent as 2010s. Are there any internal labels at all? Also, are those external pockets the right size for credit cards?

that is a great observation, they do fit credit card perfectly. there are no labels except for the "made in Italy" painted/stamped in gold.
I found one listing with this bag in brown with a dust bag, and someone was saying they are the original owner. but I guess that doesn't narrow it down

I think your best bet might be searching by the logo. I’m having a difficult time finding products elsewhere with lowercase Valentino tags, but I did find a piece from the late 1990s labeled “Valentino Boutique” in the same font. Sometimes items like these (especially purses) with wonky labels can lead back to counterfeit, but the only way we can really test that now is by verifying the authenticity of the leather. There are a bunch of resources online for testing if alligator/crocodile leather is real. The bag has some nice finishes that make me hesitant to think it could be vintage counterfeit, so I’ll keep looking at logos! They could have used a logo like that briefly in the 90s or even earlier for a specific collection. Nonetheless, from what it seems like on the internet, it’s a rare piece! I hope this helps :) Good luck!

I'm not sure it's crocodile, seems more like an embossed leather. It is very absorbing, I've retouched a few spots with leather paint. And that is usually a great sign. It is nice quality. And the bag is consistent with the same model sold by an auction house. I don't think it's rare though I found 3 brown ones, and other black one. And as I mentioned one person was selling it with a dust bag. From what I've searched vintage Valentino bags are all over the place with the logos/labels etc. A multitude.

After looking at Valentino logos overall I realized I’d made a mistake and was probably just looking in the wrong places. I’m not familiar with leather and its usage but based on the logo and style I agree with GemGem that it was probably made in the 1980s or maybe 1990s. Apologies for the logo-mix up!

80s/90s was my first instinct too

Well it might help with dating if you ask them when and where they bought it!
