Valentino mens coat

I have been gifted the most beautifully made gents coat. The label says it is a Valentino , the cut of the item including all stitching , lining etc is equisite and it certainly seems like the real thing to me .
However I do not own any high end items of clothing and the coat is not suitable for my husband so we are looking to sell it but wouldn't wish to do so if not genuine. Can anyone offer an advice please on how I can authenticate the item? Many Thanks in advance
