Valentino: The Last Emperor

We're in the midst of the Palm Springs International Film Festival and since I teach in Jan. and rarely go to the movies, I've never been; but today's paper listed a Valentino documentary at 4pm.

It is absolutely fabulous and will be released in about three months. In the meantime, it's being shown and promoted at Film Festivals like PS and Ontario (Canada). I think Miami is next.

There are Behind the scenes looks at V designing, fitting, etc., the workroom; and his final show at the Coliseum. This is a movie to run to--don't walk. Hopefully, it will be a DVD later. Claire

Just read a story today on Valentino and his partner, he apparently owes the Italian government back taxes of 39 million dollars.

He apparently moved his residence to England, keeping his business in Italy and did not let the Italian government know about the purchase of said residence.

Que sera sera!

The director spoke after the film. Apparently there were some difficulties when filming. I did not meet him when I went to Valentino. I did meet his sister and his partner. The first time I went I visited the workrooms and the archives. Last time, only the archives.
