Value of HBarC mens garbardine western 1950's jacket?

I have been looking online to find the value. Most of what I have seen are either in mint condition or not vintage from this period. My Jacket is somewhat faded, with a small hole on the back shoulder, and the elastic has seen better days. The exterior is rayon and the interior is acetate. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

H Bar C has made this same jacket on and off since the late 50s. I have handled it numerous times, from different eras. It is hard to tell the era by the label, as they used the same or very similar, and then reverted and then changed, but not by much. The fabric will help identify the era, more than anything else. The company was bought and reopened just within the last few years, and I've had awful conversations with their website chatbots, so I don't think you will have any assistance from the new owners or their AI. It is still collectible and worn, and even in poorer condition, if priced right, it will still sell. With the acetate lining I would assume more modern. If you are able to tell the difference between rayon and viscose, that will help as an indicator of era, as well, as viscose is what they use now. I don't think I can help much more than that, without handling it. Depending where the elastic that you mentioned is located, that may also help determine era. I don't recall my older ones having any elastic in the waistband, but all of the later ones did, on the backside.

Thank you so much for the response! I bought this in a vintage shop in the early 1980s so it is definitely not modern :). I am pretty sure it is rayon. There are rows of elastic on the back about 5 inches on either side. I do have another 50s "Ricky" jacket with the same treatment.Do you know what the lining fabric would be on the older ones?

Hi Lesley... If the close-up images were in-focus, we could possibly tell you more. It's difficult to define details of fabric or trim otherwise. I'd still like to see the jacket turned inside out. Anyway, with what you've shared, it does appear to be an older jacket - I would be comfortable dating it to the 1950s.

As Sadie noted, the H Bar C label has had many minor modifications over the years. What strikes me about this particular label - and forgive me for sounding nerdy here - is the little "knob" on top of the cross-bar of the H. That detail is something I have only seen on 1940s-1950s labels, not later.

Would you give the VFG permission to add your label to our resource?
