Vassarette- date? What is it exactly?

It's a top, I know that, no buttons, only a neck sash. Anyone know how it is supposed to be tied? Or, how it is supposed to be worn?

Any guesses on a time period? The label resource does not have this label listed. This is the only tag on the garment.

Vassarette used to make lingerie/underwear/nightwear, they still do. I believe this used to be top part of a pyjamas or a nightie perhaps?! Explain why has no buttons. From the pattern probably late 1960s/70s. Love the bright colours! :)
