Velveteen Evening Coat....50\'s??

One more for tonight....

This black velveteen evening coat has a National Recovery Board label and wonderful glitter buttons. I think 50's, but the slim cut and the ruffle at the hem are throwing me off. Are the details clear enough or do I need to reshoot?

Is it 50's, 60's, 30's???

I can see the ruffle and cuffs. The pics are muddy looking but there really isn't much you can do with the dreaded black photo session is there!!

Egads...I don't know about the date??

Great coat...good luck with it!!

The first photo is pretty clear to me, but you might want to alternate with a shot without lightening it...so people see detail in one and the true inky black hue in the other so they know that is what they are getting.

I have found some luck with photographing black against a blue backdrop. A sheet will do that is blue. It just prevents the photos from getting under/over exposed as much. I have also learned from Carolyn to take a picture with the flash when the lights are off.

I'll take a stab at the date. Late 50s, is my thought. I can see this over one of the newer, slimmer dresses that came out after the 'sack" dress.
