Great piece!! Could they have been sold off to home-sewers? I'm just thinking about how my mother shopped too... (your reminiscences about the factory shops reminded me of a trip I took with my mum to a factory shop on the borders of the textile centres of Bradford when I was 8/9 - she bought a fake-fur-edged trenchcoat which she had to be persuaded into, but I thought it looked so glamorous!)
I've got an email in to Vera's nephew, Fred Salaff, to see if he knows any more about this. I thought about home sewers too, Lin, but there are few markings on the piece, and would require a pattern to cut it properly.
