Would anyone be able to help me with shedding some light on the make of these coats.

A) The 50's black princess coat is by Bellman, HB ltd (anything to do with Kleshie Bellman?).

B) The second is a grosgrain coat by Verner Vogue, Petite. I really cannot find much out there apart from another coat.

C) The third a black Leila Read, Brook Street, London, with velvet collar. I cannot quite figure out if it has been altered at some point. As you can see in the photos, there is a button hole inside the sleeve. Then I looked under the gorgeous lining and found Jacqmar London and some tough material as a base.

Jonathan was looking for info on H. Bellman previously to no avail (from a 1950s wool suit), but I wonder if H Bellman is related to this Kleshie Bellman: http://forums.vintagefashionguild.org/threads/kleshie-bellman-information.11141/#post-478671
as the last poster tells us Kleshie was born to a family of Jewish tailors and lived just oustide of London, while the directory page above notes that Commercial street by 1956 was dominated by the Jewish rag trade. Commercial street is in the very centre of London. I also wondered if many of the businesses on that street were victorian companies, as they give their trade as 'mantle manufacturer's' which seems a very old fashioned title by 1956.

Thank you everyone, great article about Verner Vogue. Jacqmar (spelt Jacqumar in the article) is mentioned afterwards with regards to their tweed.

The Leila Read coat (c) with Jacqmar London written under the lining is the actual fabric of the coat. Apparently Jacqmar London were listed as a fabric company from 1936. Famous for scarves from the 40's under Jacqmar Ltd Fabrics. So I am still looking to find out who this Leila Read was, it must have been a nice shop as it's address is in Mayfair London.

I will ask a few of the dealers in London at the fair I'm doing on Sunday, maybe someone's coming across Bellman.

I shall keep you updated.
