Victorian and Edwardian Clothing Appraisal

I am trying to locate someone who is an appraiser of Victorian and Edwardian clothing. I have several outfits that I call fancy dress gowns that I would like to have appraised as well as I would like to know about when they were made.

You are more than welcome to post photos of your clothing here, there are a few of us here (including me) who specialize in the earlier areas although I'm not sure if there are any liciensed appraisors here though. Don't forget too, valuation amounts can be quite different for insurance puroposes than for reselling or collecting purposes. Insurance valuation prices on items tend to be MUCH higher than the values given if say, you want to resell something.

It also depends if you are looking for estimates for your own purposes or if you require an official signed appraisal for legal use, in which case you will need to pay for an appraiser who will supply information of value of similar items from other sources, such as auctions.
 
Can you post why you need the appraisal? Insurance or resale, for example? That will help us help you better. If you are trying to insure your collection, that is a huge issue. My insurance agent and I have struggled mightily for years trying to keep my collection properly insured. There may be better ways to solve your problem than an appraisal.

As for helping you date your items, we can definitely do that. Just post pictures!
