this one has a Western costume company tag (maybe both from there?) which I know means it could be harder to date? I wish the name was legible in case it's from a famous movie ;) same structure with a hook back and snaps below the waist. The bodice is seperated from the skirt, but sewn on with loose stitches
 
My first impression was 1950's from the style of the dress and materials used. It is of course a costume depicting probably Victorian dress. It reminds me a lot of the dresses Grace Kelly wore in High Society (1956) with the fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline and sheer poet sleeves:

I played around a little with the label tag in Photoshop and got this:

It *looks* like Pat Moore to me. I'm more sure about the last name than the first ( which might be short for Patricia or similiar). I did find a Patricia Moore on the IMDB who could possibly fit the period but it looks a little early in her career to be having costumes made for her IMO.

We might be able to get a clearer image if you took a few more label shots specifically for reading the label, in different lights etc. with focus on it specifically.

how cool! thanks to you both for input and I will see if I can get the label more clearly photo-ed this weekend
