Once again this year, I am looking for a pair of Victorian/Edwardian or even 1920's pair of high lace up or button up boots for the ever growing 6 year old Jake!
I measured his feet today in socks and they measure 7 3/4" long and approx. 2 7/8"- 3" wide (he was sqirming so I could get a proper measurement). His old Edwardian boots that he outgrew in December measure 8 1/4" long and just over 2 1/2" wide.
Although his width measurement seems wide, they are not. He's got real skinny, narrow boney feet and takes a narrow fitting in shoes so the width of the boots should be a at the very least 2 1/2" wide but doesn't have to be as wide as 3".
It's the length that is the problem as most of the kid's shoes that survive are for babies.
The length of his shoes should be at least 8 1/2" as his old boots measures 8 1/4" and are now too short but going towards the 9" range in length would be preferable so at least I have some growing room for next year.
They don't have to be in mint condition or fancy, just as long as they are still strong enough to be worn (no dry brittle leather) and look the part. I don't want to pay loads as they are just going to outgrown and probably scuffed up (which is why they don't have to be in mint condition to begin with).
If they are button boots, I don't mind if buttons are missing as I can replace them.
My budget is up to $40- $45 (maybe a bit more) depending on condition, style and amount of growing room left in them!
I won't be buying these to resell though as I keep all the antique shoes that Jake has gone through (I have his first pair of button boots) for when he gets older and brings home his girlfriends, I can show them all the little boots Jake used to wear
Now for me, I need either a mid- late 1890's to 1909, A- line skirt in a light summer color (white, pinks (preferably), beiges, etc) in linen, cotton, lightweight wool, etc. No blacks as the event is in July.
I wouldn't mind a nice colored petticoat/underskirt either.
I've sold all the ones I used to wear as they ended up being WAY too big on me (LOL, some by 10") so now I need new ones.
My corsetted waist is 25"- 26" and hips are 40" in a corset. I'm 5'9" so length is important so something around the 40" mark in length would be good.
I have a c. 1905 cotton shirtwaist that needs an orphan skirt to pair up with it!
Budget? Not really sure. i can pay a bit more than what I can for Jake's things as at least I know I won't outgrow them (LOL, well, I hope not!) but can't spend hundreds on a skirt/petticoat though, so if you have anything, just let me know and I shall see.
Gary needs a striped Edwardian style blazer (doesn't have to be antique, can be modern). He has a 48" chest and is 5'11" ish. He's stormed off now in a huff over nothing so I can't measure him just yet
