Victorian (?) embroidered bag

I wonder if anyone can point me to a resource for cleaning an old embroidered fabric bag on a metal frame. Cleaning either one separately would probably be straightforward, but when they are attached to one another … ! Thank you.

The fabric of the bag and the metal of the frame will make a difference in approach. If you are able, it is always safer to separate such different pieces, and treat them each individually. Often, whatever leaches off the metal will be harder to remove from the bag than the regular dust and stains of the fabric. Can you provide some pictures?
