Victorian smelling salt bag? 20s Belt Bag?

I have yet to do any research but wanted to get to you guys prior to doing so. This little beauty is stunning. Each of those circles has embroidery around them and crochet at the top. There are hand cut clear and white glass beads and blackened metal filigree accetns at the bottom mirroring the metal "sticks" that have "balls" at each end. . Taking each of these "sticks" and pulling them apart opens the bag. There is no lining and there is a chain with a ring attached that I am also thinking could actually be worn on the finger. What comes to mind is a victorian smelling salts bag or something worn on a belt in the 1920s? Both guesses... It measures 3.5-2.25 inches... What say you?

I LOVE it I am just not sure what it is or what to do with it!!

Very nice indeed, I love the little danglies! However I am clueless as to it's purpose and look forward to hearing!

(OT - Is that a scan Michelle? I can never seem to make things look good like that when I scan them.. )

it looks like a '20s finger-ring purse to me. it's the right size and shape, and has the essential component, to fit on one's finger.

good luck and cheers :)

Yes Harriet, I used a scanner. I never had done so but Chris had mentioned something about rescanning some jewelry and I got one of those lightbulbs, you know the kind that float at the top of your head? I never even thought to use my scanner for some things!
20s finger ring purse.... Things like this make me wish I was "back in the day"... thanks for the info!

you know, i'm reconsidering a bit -- since i can't see this up close and personal. the style seems a bit vaguely victorian for the '20s...so it might have been something to clip onto a chatelaine.

good luck.

cheers :)
