can we see a shot of the label? this probably was made around the time disney came out with their tiki room. i remember that. i recall the pendleton store in frontierland, but don't recall a clothing shop in the jungle area of disneyland (whatever that was called).
Whitecat, I appreciate your enthusiasm for this amazing dress, but if you can keep to one thread, it will make it easier for all of us, because we can all post comments to the one place. Thank you.
My friend has a dress with the same fabric and long sleeves. She found a selvedge near the zipper that says "W.E.D. Enterprises 1964". W.E.D. is the former name of Walt Disney Imagineering, and they made items for sale in Adventureland when the Tiki Room opened in 1964.
I've seen this dress before, not in person, but can't remember if I've seen pictures at "The Land" or online. The dress looks authentic, especially with that tag. I think it is called the Adventureland Print. If you click this link, you will see that there are other clothes in the same print with the same tag from 1964 http://www.tikiroom.com/tikicentral/bb/viewtopic.php?topic=36910&forum=12&3.
I've been a season pass holder for the last 9 years and I don't remember any reproductions being produced that looked anything like this. Most of the tiki clothing is being done by SHAG now and this is definitely not one of his.
I would say you have yourself a nice piece there. Please let me know when you put it up for sale.
