Vintage Airplane Pin-Date and Origin?

Hey all! I'd love your help with this pin that I found. It's actually a double pin, with one fastener on the airplane and one on the other side with this little chain in the middle. The plastic seems like bakelite to me but I'm no expert. I initially assumed that this was a WWII pin and Germaine was German in another language but I can't seem to figure out what language it would be in. Does anyone have any info on the date or origin of the pin?

Germaine is a female name, and these are sometimes known as sweetheart pins.
Can you show the back/fasteners?
 
I asked my husband who is somewhat of an expert on airplanes. He told me that it is a pre-mid 1942 P-40 U.S. fighter plane - that was nicknamed "warhawk."

It is most likely a sweetheart pin. Germaine is probably the pilot's wife or girl friend.

Vintage unsigned costume jewelry in plastic and metal from the 1940's
Red plastic WWII era fighter airplane has carved white stars with red centers on top of both wings and white details on tail - metal c-clasp underneath
Metal chain link trails behind the plane with white molded celluloid plastic letters that spell the name ERMA
At the end of the chain link is a small pair of silver metal wings also with a c-clasp underneath
The red airplane measures 1 3/8" from propeller to tail, 1 3/4" wing tip to wing tip
Oval link chain measures 3" long
Celluloid letters each measure 5/8" long, 3/8" wide
Small silver wings measure 3/4" wide by 3/16"
Adorable and rare this would make a fantastic addition to that special collection as well as a most memorable gift
