Hello again! I need help dating, (I'm going with 60's) this numbered DIOR boutique Coat. It is brocade, but I don't know what it's made from, any ideas? Would you call this couture? Any ideas on what kind of coat this is? Thanks as always!

It looks like it might be a matelasse brocade? I can't tell from the pics. It is not couture, it is boutique, which means its off the rack but at the Dior atelier, so its the next best thing to couture. The design is numbered which means its registered, but Dior was adamant about registering all its couture and boutique clothes. It looks late 60s to me, not earlier than 65 and possibly as late as 68ish. I suspect there was originally a matching dress with the coat, so that will be a problem for its value.

registration number

Great help, thank you all! Does anyone know how to look up the numbers of a numbered piece such as this?

price

Thanks! I have it listed in Rice and Beans Vintage (my store)not eBay, I'm asking 300.00 does that seem like too much?

There is no way to look up the numbers of Dior registered designs. The information for this is kept at the Dior archives and you can't get near that archives without at least one doctoral thesis beneath your belt. The couture numbers you can get kind of an idea because Dior started numbering them at #1 in 1947 however the boutique clothes have a different numbering system and I don't know what it is. Your price sounds fair, not cheap but not ridiculous either.
