Vintage dress. Trying to date this gorgeous piece.

Hello everyone,

I've had this dress I picked up approximately 13+ years ago. It's Nu-Mode.Made inToronto Canada. I'm trying to date it. I'm thinking possibly 1961+/- as the paper tag indicates. If anyone knows anymore about this dress and how to date it correctly I would really appreciate it.

I'd bet it's flattering on! I believe Nu-Mode was in the business of making formal wear, like bridal and prom-type dresses. I would think, with that care and fiber content tag, that you are looking at 1980s or so. I don't know how to read that date indicator on the purple tag.

I agree with Maggie, looks no older than 1980s. The 0610 could indicate a month and day, rather than a year, and be for inventory purposes.

agree, maybe late 70s, but more likely 80s. not 60s, tho.

Hello everyone! One thing I didn't mention about this dress is that it is a halter style. Also the bodice has some boneing in the front! Thank you for all the info. I'm also looking into the tags and Canadian labeling laws for this piece. I absolutely love this dress and so happy to show you all.

Alright I do believe this piece is from the 1980s. It is beautiful on. I did find a matching dress labeled for the 80s but in purple. This color is so nice.

Looks great! I had a Nu-Mode summer dress that I assumed was from the 70s - no idea how long they were around. Mine had a union label - that might also be an indication for dating it.
