Vintage Fashion Industry

Hiya, I am a vintage fashion lover and Journalist. At the moment I am researching an article on the growing popularity of vintage fashion and I was looking to try and find specific data about the growth of the industry in the past few years.

Also Ideally I wanted to profile a woman who wears a specific era of vintage fashion 24/7.

If anyone could help me with any of the above. Links, sites to find info or anyone who would be willing to be profiled etc I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Kate

Thanks Kate

I think it might be hard to find it hard to find someone who wears the same era 24/7 because you might be accused of living in a time warp. You will fnd most vintage people mix and match depending on the mood. I have been hippy dippy this week.

I would probally attend a vintage clothing show to find that sort of person.

Was sort of laughing at he question there are a few people that fit that profile here in town but they seniors and they have not changed their style in 50 years. I see a lady in the German Deli she has the whole conservative 60's thing going on down to the shoes. Some of her handbags are amazing....I think she is about in her late 70's.

Good luck in your endevers

Are you based in the UK? If so you should go along to one of the big vintage fashion fairs in London. I am sure you'd meet lots of interesting people. There's a good one on 15th June in Battersea, for example.

I know a few Rockabilly people who live in vintage 40's-50's .
I used to, but when I became a dealer, I started loving a broader range of eras. Now it seems anything goes from Victorian to 80's, sad huh :BAGUSE:

I have a customer who wears vintage all the time - you can see her here:

Lynn Savery on "The Collectors"

She's a bit shy now, thanks to the TV show turning her into a local celebrity - but if you wanted, I could pass your details on to her.

Ooooh Nicole, I adore this Lynn Savory! AND I would kill for her shoes.

Kate...As for data on the growth of the industry I would contact vintage show producers and ask them for numbers on their customer attendance in the past three or four years. Also major fashion magazines have featured vintage for a while now. You could resaearch the number of vintage articles written.

I wear vintage every day (much to the amusement of the locals in my small town) but I tend to mix and match eras..I'm not strictly "living the vintage life"

Lynn has the best shoe collection - bought mostly through ebay of course! It's nigh on impossible to find good vintage shoes in Australia, especially in a size 8.

In fact, she's a good customer to many VFGers: I know she's bought from Dorothea's Closet for starters, as I've pointed out clothes to her and she's already on to it (I love your shop Ang).

I adore Lynn, she's one of my favourite people and Circa's best walking advertisement: most of the clothes she models on the show are from Circa and I'm always on the hunt for new great things for her.
