Vintage Frederick's of Holywood

Hello all!

I found this floral skirt in a thrift store and I am curious about the history/value of this piece. The tag looks like a 1970's Frederick's of Hollywood, but all of my web searches have yielded no results. The back tag says "style #1226". I am trying to find out if this is a legitimate piece and whether it may be worth something. Thanks!

From what I can see, the Frederick's of Hollowood label has been machined onto the care label after it's manufacture. Unless the care label has any reference or RN numbers etc. that can be linked to that name, I would discount it entirely. The skirt itself doesn't look that old to me. Can you show both sides of the care label please?

The front of the care label is hard to read because of the Frederick's label on top, and the back of the care label is blank.

Very odd.
Why would someone fake a Frederick's skirt? It certainly wouldn't make THAT particular skirt more collectible..>?
The only more collectible Frederick's items would probably be their more "pin-up" looking stuff from the late 50's to early 60's. We have a catalog from 1963, I think, that is so awesome! The clothes are just short of scandalous! I'm surprised people weren't arrested in them!
Personally, I have a great blue & white knit top with a white plastic zipper down the front - with a big loop zipper pull. I know that, in the catalog, they'd have shown it half zipped "down to there" with oversized boobs straining to break free! Ha!

Welcome to the forums, Tara.

I agree with the others: I can't see why you'd add a '70 Frederick's label onto this skirt, as it's unlikely to add to the value but then I've seen plenty of strange things in the wonderful world of vintage.

Like Melanie, I'd like to see the care label - it looks like a modern (past twenty years) one but it's hard to be sure. Personally, I would unpick the Frederick's label as it's unlikely to be original and the label underneath has clues. If it was a Frederick's, I can't see them zigzagging it onto the care label like this but someone who's more familiar with the brand may know more about their techniques.

We're unable to help you with values, but if you search for closed auctions on ebay for similar pieces you might get an idea. We'd need to see the whole thing to determine exactly what it is, but it looks like a gathered skirt with an elasticated waist.

The only reason I can think of is that maybe it was a label found after the wash and they stitched it onto the wrong garment.
