Vintage GAP Label

Hi, All! I'd like to help with the GAP labels. Here's a GAP jean jacket I found that I think is from the early to mid 90s. It is very "interesting" looking.

Love it!
Can you show the back of where they are attached? The big gems do look like the sort you get to attach yourself (for a few years now there has even been a kids machine to do it with).
I would think the patches were ironed on if they are later, but the designs do look very 80's/90s to me - if they were original they should have been sewn on.

I remember these embellished denim jackets from the early 90s (my daughter had one in 1993/4), and agree that they were a girls'/women's vs men's style!

yes, embellished denim jackets were a huge trend in the late 1980s, actually, too; while working at Bebe's in HNL we sold tons of them to Japanese tourists. With their popularity, many crafters took the cue and created some pretty interesting versions of their own. this was also the time for "boyfriend" jackets, when girls wore guys oversized jackets, from denim to sportcoats.

great to see you, Adam! HNY!

Thanks, all! The embellishments are definitely not original. The "jewels" are hooked through the fabric and the patches appear to be ironed or even glued on. There are little glitter blue spills on the jacket in places and there is a glitter glue letter written onto the left chest pocket. Unfortunately the fabric content, sizing label has been removed. I remember these jackets being pretty popular when I was in middle and high school (late 80s to early 90s). Girls wore them, but they were supposed to look like a guy's jacket. Thanks for all the help! I'll send this label over to the label forum.

Adam
