Vintage Gloves

I went through my box of gloves and listed lots on Etsy Sunday. (Thanks to the VFG member who bought them all !! ) The labels can be amusing. I guess intense competition in the 50s and 60s led to some creative marketing. One nylon pair called its fabric “nylasuede” and another is “Crescendoe leather tailored all cotton” with the ‘doe’ underlined.

I know there must be zillions of white cotton gloves out there. (Memories of the dreaded dance classes.) I thought perhaps crafters could find a use for them, so I googled around to see the possibilities.

A glove dress (looks a bit like bananas, doesn’t it?)

what a scream!! that glove (banana!!! ) dress is really cool, and those purses are yummy!!

a glove car! who'd a thunk? heh heh heh...and the wreath idea is good, but too bad they used such grimey ones ~ lol!

Its great to see such imaginative uses for vintage (or just plain old) gloves.

What a great selection, Amanda! :clapping:

And I'm with you - I really enjoy all those old and inventive marketing terms for synthetic fabrics! They really tried to make them sound more glamorous than regular, labour-intensive natural (but usually much more expensive) materials.
