Vintage Harris Tween Men's Overcoat - Seattle

Looking for a decade estimate on this vintage men's overcoat.

Reddit says most likely no later than 1966.

This is a Harris Tweed coat made of Scottish wool, purchased in Seattle. The store where this coat was purchased was in operation between 1918 and 1998.

I checked the Vintage Fashion Guild website and could not find an exact match for the Harris Tweed tag.

Thank you!

The numbering and recording of the bolts began post WW2
The six figure (rather than 7) would suggest just either side of 1950 (approx), as to dating the actual garment, it's impossible to judger how long after weaving the cloth gets cut and made into a garment.
That said these Balmaccan coats are typically early 1950s.

PS This is an export Harris Tweed label............rare to see these numbered
As these were almost always designed and woven in USA the number would be added in USA
The number box, where there is one, is more often left blank

I've just looked at your Harris Tweed Label resourse
There are one or two dating errors on the labels showing.
I dealt in vintage Harris Tweed for many years and have been manufacturing in Harris Tweed for even longer

I'd be happy to correct the dating if anyone wants to contact me

That's great information Ken thank you!

I'm tagging @Ranch Queen Vintage to see if she wants to take you up on your offer of information for the label resource.

Hi Ruth

The Balmacaan info was easy. apart from the fact I've got several in my wardrobe, I've walked my dog in Balmacaan Woods on many occasions
Check the coat name on Wikipedia :>)
