Vintage Hat assistance

Hi
I’ve acquired 3 vintage hats that I would really appreciate some help with. I’ve tried image searching, label searching etc but sadly not getting anywhere.
I will post each individually, as it’s my first time as I’m uncertain to how many images it will allow me to attach so if you see a few you know I’ve been successful.
Many thanks in advance.

Very pretty cloche style hat that I believe is from the 1960s. It's a little difficul to read the stamp on the inner crown that says where the body of the hat was made and the maker. It looks like it could might say it was made in West Germany. Someone here who is more familiar with hat body makers will probably be able to identify the name stamped on the inner hat. The label would have been put on by the maker who finished the hat, Pickwick. I did find a few hats with this label that were sold, but not much on the history of the label. Hopefully someone here will be able to shed some light on this label.

thank you so much for getting in touch. I think the stamp reads Empress. May I ask if you’re able to view images for all 3 hats as I’m not sure I’ve attached them all correctly.

I agree with Bonnie, she has given you some good information. They all appear to be from the 1960s. They are made of imported fur felt with a brushed nap which was very popular in the early to mid 1960s. As were the cloche ad jockey shapes. The only milliner's name I recognize is Amy, New York. She did most of her work in the 1960s as well.

The bit that’s puzzling me is the label that says imported beaver, it doesn’t feel like real fur and definitely felt on the inside. The one that does feel real is the brown one with the band, I’m wondering if it could be rabbit perhaps?

Can you show the interior of the one you think is rabbit pelt? It could be skin with fur like rabbit or beaver as you say. I know the term "fur felt" can be a little confusing if you are not familiar with it. The hats are indeed made from felt, and the felt is made from fur. Fur felts are imported from a number of countries in Europe. An animal's fur, such as beaver or rabbit , is subjected to a felting process similar to wool felt. The felts used to make your hats were then brushed on one side to raise the nap, creating a variety of furry looking finishes.

Hope that helps!

Well, I still cannot tell from the photos. If it were felt, I doubt the interior would have all the interlining and foundation plus a satin lining on top of all that. So it might be fur, or could also be a faux fur. Under the netting you show in your last photo, does that light colored part feel like animal skin? Or does it feel like cloth?
