Vintage hat experts - need help dating/displaying this hat

I found this hat at an estate sale - it appears it once had a label, but it's been torn out. I'm not sure if I've got it the right way on the mannequin. I've tried it at different angles and this seems closest to correct, but this places the label on the side rather than at the back.

Can anyone give me an idea of how old this hat might be and if I've got it displayed correctly?

Thanks!

The label usually goes at the back, it might seem off because you haven't got the hairstyle for the original period it was made for.

Can you show it positioned with the label at the back?

Here it is from a few angles with the label at the back.

Thanks, It looks good with the tail in back. I would have said it was 1940s, when a lot of women wore long hair in nets that hung down the back of the neck called a snood and this style goes with that effect. Although I'm sure it's a women's hat, it also has similarities with military styles and does remind me strongly of a traditional Scottish hat called a Glengarry, which has a similarly shaped crown and ribbon tails.

I should also have asked do you have photos of the labels btw?

Thanks for your help. This is the only photo I have that shows the label - it's on the right of the photo, but there's not much to see because the label is mostly missing. I'm not sure if it was just a size label or if it had a maker's name on it.
