Vintage in London

Hi,

I am coming to London this summer for a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone can tell me where is the best place to shop for vintage apart from portobelo road:)

Greenwich market on a Sunday is meant to be quite good, never made it myself.

Shoreditch/Brick Lane area has some good warehouses, and the odd fly-by-night shop (I don't mean that they're dodgy, they just come and go quite rapidly)

Camden Passage in Islington, although I hear it's about to get redeveloped so I've no idea what will happen there.

Worth looking at yell.com for individual shops and charity shops too.

I hope you have a lovely time here!!

thought i would revive this post

off to london on saturday and would like any info...

...i have heard that the markets in camden are good but there are soo many of them...which one is the best for vintage?

i am particularly interested in markets and when they open and what they are best for...

You really want to go to the main Camden stables market, which is between Camden Town and Chalk Farm, just after the canal. It's a bit pricey for the most part, but it's been a while since I went there so there may be the odd smaller, cheaper shop opened up since then.

If you're there on Saturday, Portobello is always worth a look!

You might not be able to time it right, but if you can I highly recommend the vintage fashion fairs! I went to one called the Battersea Vintage Fashion Fair and it was wonderful!

It was also good as a starting point to meet dealers and find out about the best shops - if you go to Portobello road, make it a Friday as that's when the dealers go to buy their goodies. The best stuff doesn't make it to Saturday.
