Vintage Inspired Fashion

THIS is an interesting article in Sunday’s London Financial Times about “retro collections” and fashion “designing its own past.”

Here in the boonies I completely missed the fact that Marks and Spencer is celebrating its 125th anniversary and Carachel collaborated with Liberty to celebrate its 50th annniversary. So I had to take a look on the web. Here are a few of the Marks and Spencers offerings.

Then over at Liberty’s web site I had to drool over the fabrics a bit...

And googling around I discovered Liberty is working with Nike ... a bit of a sacrilege to this old fogey.

which made me think of a recent sneaker combination I saw in Teen Voque that I do kind of like - Converse working with Woolrich.

The first dress is my fave too. Liberty always reminds me of my childhood, my mom used to make herself light summer-trousers out of Liberty fabric for years, and I used the remnants to make clothes for my Barbies out of them! One fabric actually had the same pattern as on the purple sneaker, but in different colors!
