Vintage label help for black eyelet dress

Hi,

Can someone tell me what this label says? Is this an I or an L? Does this say Doctor? It's a black eyelet dress that I'm guessing to be from the 50s.

it's an i - i. doctor. haven't seen that label for a while and now i don't recall the background on it, but it's a good label

All I remember is they were a family of dressmakers in Chicago, with the last name Doctor.

Can't help with the label, but that dress is gorgeous! I love those 50's eyelet dresses, and the styling on yours is really nice, and it looks like a high-quality piece just from the photos!

I. Doctor advertised in Vogue magazine. I used to find things with that label all the time but I haven't found anything in years now. The clothes tend to be a bit on the conservative side, but they were definately high end ready to wear.

I have a dress and bolero set by the same maker, I forever thought it said I. Zoctor... So funny to find out it says I. Doctor! =) Thanks for the info!
