Hi all,

I have a beautiful Laura Ashley dress that I believe is vintage however I have limited knowledge in this area! I’m hoping you lovely lot could help me out.

It is a size 10, full length dress with a floral pattern, 100% cotton.

I have attached photos - do you think this is a 1980s item? I am also very unsure if it is worth anything as I may consider selling if it is!

Agree. Early '90s. I used to pick up dresses like these in the charity shops and wear them in the late '90s because they're nice styles and fabrics. Love a good floral and Laura Ashley made some of the best.

With the recent interest in "cottagecore", I'm hoping LA dresses will experience a resurgence in popularity. I have quite a few in my collection!
It seems to me that the ones that do the best price-wise are white dresses that could be used for a wedding, and cotton florals that suggest "garden party" or "prairie"... and medium/large sizes are always preferred.

Goblincore! I have never heard of that. What is it Nicole?

It's a reaction against the perfection of modern aesthetics: the Kardashians with everything glossed and smoothed over. An appreciation of the messy, dirty reality of life. It's about moss and mushrooms and ugliness. It's the opposite of Cottagecore with its pastoral fantasies of country life without grime and bad smells. It's really interesting actually (but not for me).

Like most subcultures, it's more than just a way of dressing, it's a way of life and is related to the old '70s hippies, and more recently, steampunk.

More on Goblincore here.
