I bought this a few years back and I'm curious to know what exactly the brand is. As you can see in the photos, the tag says "Marcus", not "Neiman Marcus". Are the two related? Is this leather and mink? Something else? Would love to learn more about it.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge in this area. .. THANK YOU!!

P.S. The inside is monogrammed "Jane Ingalls'. I'm assuming this was the original owner...

Hi Heather, Pretty Mink and Leather belted fur stroller length coat from the 1970s. Having no relation to Neiman Marcus, your coat came from Marcus Furs. Marcus Furs was a fur shop on the west coast, was in existence for many years, and Marcus Furs still exists in Texas today.

Here's Marcus fur shop ad from 1941

This next one shows Marcus Furs as being one of the stores in the Eastridge Mall in 1971. Marcus furs is highlighted in yellow. Sorry for the small print.

Absolutely Amazing! I never would have been able to find this, not in a million years. Just one more question, do you by chance happen to know what this might be valued at today? I did my research I just can't find anything to compare online. Thank You so much!! You really know your stuff!!

You are most welcome. Value is one thing we can't specifically help you with here. Not because we don't want but because there are a lot of factors in determining how much an item will sell for.

I can tell you if you are going to offer this coat for sale online the best chances you will have to make as much as possible will be to check and note the condition clearly pointing out any flaws, describe the coat as best as possible noting the age and features including the fur, leather, lining, any labels, and closure details, and provide clear photos of all angles as well as the lining.

To better your chances of getting an idea of what similar coats like yours have sold for if you are having a hard time would be to narrow down your word search so if you are looking for 1970s brown mink and leather belted coats and the results bring few or no results try fewer words like 70s mink fur and leather coat or 70s mink fur coat. Check the sold listings on eBay and you should be able to find some that compare in some way to get an idea of what yours might be worth.
