I guess it is a peignior , it has a Label of Jean Radford London, made in England, ive googled it and checked the label resource and found nothing, the only clue is a dry cleaners label, that reads re pleated and the date 2nd feb 1962.
Ive never seen any thing like this at all, the pleats are all the way around, its very well made,
I would say its Some sort of Nylon, but it feels, to cold to the touch, more like acitate ?
The lace on the collar is older than the 50s i sure,
Im really puzzled and would greatfully receive any advise,
thank you very much

I'm going to go with 1950s, sunray pleated nylon. Great colour! If you think the collar is older, it might have been added as a personal touch (I used to add lace to the hems of skirts in the early '80s).

Hi Carrie!!:hiya:

Looks like nylon to me too but with a more open weave pattern like muslin. Nylon muslin? LOL, sorry don't know what the correct term would be but it's definitely "sun ray pleated" :)

I agee with the above--nylon, and the lace added post-manufacture. Lovely color, and I really like that big satin tie/bow.

It's amazing what weaves & finishes nylon was being done in in the 40s & 50s--you'd swear some of it was the finest rayon. Also, some companies were doing a nylon/acetate blend. I have a Seamprufe gown that's nylon/acetate, and it's yummy. So, even if yours doesn't "feel" or "look" like a traditional nylon, it still may be 100% nylon or a blend.

Hey Carrie!

I agree with the others. Very pretty colour!
