Vintage Mystery Brooch... can you help?

I bought a beautiful scorpion brooch a few years ago and I'm hard pressed to find any information about. It's in excellent condition. Pot metal with a goldtone finish. It has a C hook clasp and what's most intriguing about it is the lovely assortment of semi-precious stones. I was doing some research on vintage clasps and it points to the type used on Edwardian era jewelry but if the brooch was really that old, I would think the condition wouldn't be what it is.
There's a small area on the back of the brooch that's showing the metal under the gold finish but doesn't show up in the photo, I don't think. I'm only guessing pot metal but pretty sure it's not silver.

Any insight is most appreciated.

Hi Linn,

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I don't think they're glass. They just don't have the look or feel of glass and some of the stones have inclusions, most notably the 2 blue stones next the to the claws and the round greenish grey stone beside the main rounded red stone. I've always planned to take them to a gemologist but it's a bit a drive so I'll just have make a plan to do that and hopefully soon.
