Vintage or modern?

Hello, I found this dress while thrift shopping. I'm not sure what era it's from... It has no labels and I believe it was homemade so I'm not sure. Thanks in advance! image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Hi KellyL,

For best results in this forum, you might like to read this thread - it contains lots of recommendations about the sort of information that is useful for dating.

Also - if you can please edit the photos so they're the right way up it makes it much easier for us to see. A full length shot (so we can see how long it is) is helpful as hem length is an indicator of era.

The construction of your dress looks fairly modern, I'm thinking '80s but if you can tell us a little about fabric, openings (eg, nylon zipper up the centre back), any other details (eg, shoulder pads, lining...) it will be very helpful.

Thank you.

Sorry about that, I will read that and make sure I post correctly next time. It doesn't have any shoulder pads, but it has a centred nylon zipper at the back and a lining (I'm unsure of the material, perhaps polyester) and the length is nearly at the ankles so it didn't fit in the shot. Thank you!

Can you show the zip please and does the skirt have any side splits? if so how long are they? I am thinking this is 90s or more recent, it has elements of asian styling to it, so I wondered if it might be a more modern Salwaar.

Thanks the zip is a fairly modern sort. You might inspect the seams inside the lining to see if a care label was removed.

I couldn't find any evidence that the care label was removed. I'm pretty sure it was homemade though, as the seams weren't very straight or as neat. Do you think it's 80s, 90s or even 2000s? Thank you :)
