I just blogged Faye Dunaway's gown from "Bonnie & Clyde" here on the VFG the other day and did a more in-depth Oscar gown blog on my own at real-vintage.com a few days ago too......guess we're all ready to watch, huh?

oh I'm a big liar, my in-depth one was a newsletter....I talked a little about one Grace Kelly wore but thats all I blogged (nevermind! more caffeine please!)

Ang I have no idea how you find the time to do all you do!

Yeah, I'm really actually excited to watch this year. I hope there are more than a few vintage dresses.

Looks like great minds do think alike!! Will add links to both your vintage blogs to mine. And I managed to forget about that amazing gown Reese Witherspoon wore, (think that's maybe the best vintage red carpet look for ages), was probably also due to lack of caffeine on a Saturday morning!!

Just had to add to this...

I'm reading the Arnold Scassi autobiography and he talks quite a bit about the Barbra Streisand pant set she wore to the Oscars in 1968. According to him, the studio has designed a long black cape thing for her to wear, and he just happened to visit her on the set of her next movie when she was being fitted for it. He made the comment that she looked like a character from Gone with the Wind. She giggled, the fitters and designer were aggravated, but in the end Barbra and Scassi came up with the pantsuit, which was not really see-through. It was lined with a nude lining. But under the bright lights it looked like it was just one layer of sheer fabric.

Years later... Scassi had been wanting to borrow the now famous suit for a lecture, but was told by Barbra's secretary that it was in storage and could not be located. He kept bugging them, but the suit was never found.

Years later... The suit showed up in the famous charity sale of Barbra's things that was on eBay a few years ago. The suit was bought by Scassi!

That will be Bjork.

She got so much flack for that outfit - I applaud her for wanting to do something interesting and different. Better than those who try to look elegant and glamourous and fail!

It was amazing but in a strange way. Beautiful but ugly really but inappropriate I think. Wearing this to a opening of an art show or something would of been better.

Katherine Heigl's red finery was definitely the it dress for me. Just gorgeous.
