Vintage Purse? Yes? No?

Just picked up this purse at a local thrift shop. It doesn't have any labels and seems to be in very good shape. The wear on and style of the clasp made me wonder if it might be a vintage purse--1970s?? Any information would be much appreciated!!

I don't know this type of bag very well but it looks like a modern bag intended to look like a vintage bag to me. When I google tapestry bags the results show me bags that are quite similar. When I enter add the word vintage similar bags come up too but I suspect those that are like this and labeled as vintage might not be.

Hopefully some others will chime in.

Nice purse! It looks vintage to me, perhaps mid to late 1950s to early 1960s, not exactly sure. The frame and lining look to be from that time period, although the tapestry is a bit splashier than others I have seen from that same time. So maybe more into the 1960s.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and for moving my post up! I'm going to follow your lead and Google tapestry bags and see if anything similar comes up-- and it is that modern looking tapestry pattern that's really confusing me. The frame looks vintage, the material does not. A true handbag mystery!

Thanks so much! Like I said in my previous reply, it's that splashy almost modern looking tapestry pattern that's really stumping me. The frame looks vintage to me, but the tapestry...not so much. I hope you're right and that I've got something from the 1960s!

Just did a little more looking. So far the purse looks very similar to Dover purses made in the 1960s. The paisley pattern seemed to be pretty popular at that time.

I do indeed see the similarities and I think you might be right! I don't know if that is the brand but when looking at modern ones I did notice that some of them used the same or similar frames but the lining was different as Barbara was mentioning. One that was very similar had a faux leather lining.
