I found this at an estate sale. It has me stumped. It is reversible. Cotton or cottonblend. Not quite canvas weight on one side and cord on the other. Very plain buttons on corduroy side. Buttons on other side are Vassar College buttons. Only tag on it is shown in photos. Just generic paper tag. I am wondering two things. A date.. I was thinking 70s but not sure. Also do you think the buttons were added later or do you think they might be original? I just thpught it was interesting. I cannot find the buttons even when i did searches for just those. Thanks for any help.

Hmmm. Vassar College's crest doesn't look like that, but it isn't to say it never used something like that. It was founded in 1861 according to the Vassar Encyclopedia. There's also a Vassar Creation coat manufacturer.

Does it look like the buttons were changed out, looking behind the Vassar buttons? Sometimes you can tell,

Thank you. I don't see anything under the buttons that looks off.. but they could have been changed out right after it was bought. I did find the design for vassar under Granger Academics. Says it is a historical picture archive.. but I am not sure that means anything. Thanks for the feedback. I will look into the coat manufacturer. If it does not fit my tiny daughter I might just remove the buttons and replace with the same as the plain gold. It almost has designed to look like a military tyle coat. Thank you!
